In a recent post from Screen Rant, an article suggests that the Man of Steel movie has begun audience testing. (meaning super secret private screenings to gauge reactions. Anywho, in all the hooplah, there's a comment from "SUPPOSEDLY" one of the screening attendees....

If it's true, I can't see it being Reynolds. They'll probably re-cast, and change the costume.

...know what'd be awesome? We see Clark talking to a black guy named John, and we naturally think it's a cameo by Steel, then we see the ring glow.

If this is true, it's kind of a massive spoiler.

They already replaced Reynolds in The Dark Knight Rises:

But really, if there's a Hal cameo, it'd absolutely be Reynolds. Especially since Bale's apparently now poised to join a Nolan-produced Justice League.

Has that absolutely been confirmed yet? Because I refuse to believe it until WB makes an official statement.

I also don't want it to happen in any way.

El Mayimbe and BOF's Bill Ramey are on the same page & Warner hasn't issued a denial yet, which is their usual response. So it's at least a well-founded rumor.

I've never seen a meme go from zero to infinity on the annoyance scale faster than that fucking cat.

That's not true "Rule @*!$ of the Internet: Cat memes are the only ones that never get old."

Wait, Reynolds was in the Dark Knight Rises?

I don't know why it is, but the thought of the Nolanverse being jammed into this project fills me with glee.

Not real glee, but more schadenfreude.

I'm starting to get the same feeling for this JLA movie that I had for Superman Lives/Reborn, where I was ready to follow that balding freak of a Superman Nicolas Cage to the ends of the earth!

I want them to shoehorn all these terrible things into a supremely ridiculous movie! I want the Dark Knight films to be part of the canon, I want Joseph Gordon Levitt playing Batman, I want Ryan Reynolds to make cameos in these movies and just wave and nod and wink at the camera, and by all that is holy and just I want David Ogden Stiers in terrible green make-up playing the Martian Manhunter!

Strap me in, baby, I'm ready for this ride! Is there a Wayans brother young enough to still play Robin? Can Sean Young play Catwoman?

Who is with me?!?

I say start fresh. Cut all ties from what didn't work out before. Make a Justice League movie, 100% new cast. MAYBE get the Man of Steel guy to play Superman, but ONLY if that movie is really successful. From there, spin characters off into solo movies.

Or they could be ambigious. They could have a Lantern besides Hal (John would be best) with a similar but better costume. Maybe have "Robin" from DKR as Batman or Nightwing. Maybe go for a new approach to the JLA instead of classic? or they could go with the classic original JLA. (If they want a little less odd then they could have Green Arrow istead of Martian Manhunter.)

Since in many ways John is the best known lantern I think they should go with him if they ever do a JLA Movie.

I'm pretty sure John is no longer the most well known Green Lantern, considering the movie, the cartoon and two other cartoon movies.

I think it would really depend on age at this point. Although it's really really close.

The direct-to-dvd movies (that did air on CN a couple times) shouldn't be a factor here, because everything about their distribution acts to severely limit the size of their audience.

I'd say that the live action movie elevates the Ryan Reynolds version of Green Lantern way up in the public consciousness, but not the Hal Jordan character. Just like almost nobody on Earth could tell you the name of the character played by Halle Berry in Catwoman, just that Halle Berry played Catwoman.

So my final thought here is...John Stewart is still the most well known Green Lantern character, but Ryan Reynolds is the most well known Green Lantern actor.

Reynolds recently commented in an interview with Empire, on the prospects of him being involved in Justice League:

There's been a lot of talk about the idea of a Justice League movie. Has anyone called you up about it yet?

Not yet. I don't know. If you're gonna do comic book movies in that vein, you really have to get them right. I believe that Joss Whedon is the guy that just nails it and Christopher Nolan obviously nails it. So if they were gonna do it like that, it would be an interesting thing to do. It's just that... working on Green Lantern, I saw how difficult it is make that concept palatable, and how confused it all can be when you don't really know exactly where you're going with it or you don't really know how to access that world properly - that world comic book fans have been accessing for decades and falling in love with. So at this point I have very little interest in joining that kind of world. But, you know, a great script and a good director can always turn that around.
