Not to steal Chad's thunder, but this place is dead. We need to Black-Ring this place! So let's talk about the latest round of solicits, because...well, I was just looking at the latest round of solicits. I'm gonna skip the obvious stuff, because it's obvious. Yes yes, GL and GLC and GLNG and RLs and the Annual...but there's some other GL stuff coming out that may not hit on peoples' radar.
Justice League International is ending with #12. I'm not getting that. What I am getting is Justice League International Annual #1 that comes out AFTER the final issue of the series. On the surface, it's an issue with Guy Gardner in it that's written by Geoff Johns (not to mention the biggest thing this book had working against it was the writer, so I'm all for seeing Johns write this team in general for an issue). But beyond that, I'm curious as to what DC is replacing this book with. Between the placement of the Annual, and the end of Justice League #8, there's some new JL team book coming, and that interests me, ESPECIALLY considering that they decided to change it up seemingly out of nowhere (there are lower-selling books that are still continuing).
Speaking of Annuals, I was going to skip over the Superman Annual #1 completely, and then I read the words "Can even the help of a mysterious new GREEN LANTERN overcome the might of an alien empire?" Plus, the cover is drawn by Tyler Kirkham (and that BATT they taught to ink somehow), so Jim'll love it :p Now the interior art is going to be by so many contributers that the credits include the words "and others", but it's written by Keith Giffen, and he knows what's what.
War of the Green Lanterns is being collected in softcover trade, just in time for the NEXT War of the Green Lanterns to start :p
Green Lantern: New Guardians...the best Lantern book going...is getting its first Hardcover, collecting the first 7 issues, coming out in October.
Green Lantern: The Animated Series #5 is up for grabs as well, and you should try this out if you like the show. And if you don't like the show, I feel so very, very sorry for you.
So yeah, there's that then. Feel free to expand this to what you're looking forward to in August from DC in general, or all publishers in general. I'll probably go into all of that myself tomorrow or something, since this was a lot to type :p
