Excellent I've been looking forward to these episodes. I'm very curious of your analysis on #6's & #7's.

I've read through the Miles Morales stuff--and it is pretty good. Miles isn't entirely different from Peter, albeit a lot younger, but his supporting cast and his situations are pretty interesting.

I read the Infinite issue--it was mostly Nova flying to Earth, but I think it was more of a test/commitment on the unique digital format that Waid and Marvel is using.

As for AVX itself--while everything was set up fairly well for it, the actual initial confrontation still felt a little forced--but hey, Marvel has a long history of their heroes foregoing the option of talking out differences like semi-adults and punching the shit out of each other instead.

I think I'm going to bow out on Daredevil after the Omega Effect--it's funny sometimes, but I'm just tired of the plot.

Wolverine & The X-Men was indeed REAL fucking good.

"I've never read anything by Jason Aaron before." If you want more stuff like W&TXM, read Astonishing Wolverine & Spider-Man. If you want to read something real different and see more of his serious range, read Scalped.

Secret Avengers--surprisingly was able to keep the hype up considering that it just had a great mini-run by Warren Ellis. I get what you mean with the "thing" that happened--and for me, it was a character that I utterly DESPISED, and yet Remender still found a way for me to find the character endearing before doing that.

I hear you on Avengers Academy--the whole Reptil future arc was kinda "eh," but the recent Runaways team-up was cool.

I've only read an issue or two of Byrne's She-Hulk, same with Slott's, and I found them both to be entertaining in their own ways. Smile

GL#6...interesting issue, WEIRD art.

Starstorm...anyone else think was a little nod to Nova? You know, the whole "power inside the helmet" thing.

"So this means that Hal Jordan will die." Wait...isn't Sinestro supposed to be the GL for 2814 now?

Nah, the Guardian definitely has the White Lantern ring in his power. That pose is usually for that.

As for getting tired of the teasers...the way that Johns is doing it might be a little formulaic, but setting up and teasing future stories have been going on since the beginning of serial fiction.

GLC #6...this issue and the whole arc in general I would probably describe as "insane, stupid fun."

John's actions...it makes sense to me, but I can also see a future storyline where John realizes that killing is becoming too easy for him.

As for why they keep doing this with John...I think the reason why is that he's really the only Earth Lantern that it works for. I mean, Kyle was the sensitive artist before the ring...Hal was in the Air Force, but outside of stuff like New Frontier, they never really play with him in combat...I'm pretty sure Guy was in college for a while and then was a teacher...but John was a Marine, even in his first appearance before the cartoon really amped up that side of him. Being a soldier has been part of him since the beginning--and while it's something that, in the military, you're trained to turn off that side of your head that makes you hesitate, unless you're an utter sociopath, the act of taking a life never stops messing with you--which is evident when you see so many soldiers come back home with post-traumatic stress.

I didn't quite connect the two until now, but now that you mention it, I do kinda hope they bring in Aya a little more, maybe even bringing in her robotic form.

Red Lanterns...it was pretty good. The book has definitely picked up speed and has gotten better as it's gotten on.

Yeah, I looked it up, Jack is apparently a nickname for John. I don't understand why. Blame the english language, not Milligan.

YES. Pick up Flash #6. It was fucking AMAZING.

Good episode. Smile

Actually, the marine aspect if john stewart only came about recently from the jlu cartoon. So for that to have been with john from the beginning, then the writers must have been psychic. study

geek

But I agree with your points. Sometimes it's just fun to bust balls, lol.

Ah...my bad--I think I checked his wikipedia recently, saw it under his first appearance, and assumed that they briefly mentioned he was in the military before or something.

I was just as confused about the John/Jack thing Dan...the mind boggles!

There was one thing that I picked up in Red Lanterns #6 that bugged me...On the double page spread where Atrocitus is holding up a beaten up Bleez as he faces his Red Lanterns...Vice is standing on the far right - He died during Blackest Night! Guy Gardner got his ring! It was only a big part of the Green Lantern story in the last year or two! I know I'm nitpicking now but surely it's the Editors job to pick those things up?

And with regards to Geoff Johns leaving clues and dropping hints and building things up for the next big thing...I'm with Jim on this one - I really enjoy trying to figure things out and to see it all unfold!

Rodge, true Vice died in Blackest Night, but the character you saw in red lanterns 6 wasn't Vice. It was his twin brother, also named Vice. He was so enraged by the death of his brother, he got a red ring.

Or just chalk it up to the reboot. Maybe in this universe Guy got someone else's ring.

Yes the infinite comic is all about Nova

Mobile viewing means it's widescreen AND they control the "camera" of the issue. It's different for every page but one part doesn't give you the view of both full pages. They give you a panel with a word balloon. scroll the screen slightly and give you another word balloon. Every page is different.

And even though Protector is a stupid name I do dig the character...check out his first appearance in the Grant Morrison/JG Jones Marvel Boy mini series.

(0k back to show).

Yeah Dan, Bachelo and Bradshaw...and honestly Bradshaw is gaining on him...

(If you guys ever want to jump on an ep of EMP and talk about an Avengers issue, you're more than welcome...)

She Hulk? Really? You boys need to talk to Viet...he's on a She Hulk kick...all the series.

Did you guys see my previous post in the Green Lantern movie thread?

Corwin wrote:So I'm watching the extras and in a real quick scene we get the names of all the Guardians

Scar
Raugniad
Nguanzo
Appa
Ganthet
Baris
Pazu
Sayd
Herupa

I know we've heard some of these names before but are there any originals?

And is it time for this yet?

View user profile
So when I first saw that list of names, there were 2 that seemed fishy, but I wikied it anyway to make sure. And sure enough, Raugniad and Nguanzo are new names, although Raugniad is close to Ranikar I guess? Oh well. The other names are all official.

I think Herupa's the newest one to hit the comics. He's the one that Krona mentioned before Entitying the Guardians during the War.

I'm gonna chalk Vice up to a mistake. You do a crowd shot, you throw in all the Red Lanterns you can think of, you forget this one died. It happens. What sucks even more is that we must live in a world where John is interchangable with Jack and Dick is interchangable with Richard.

gland wrote:I think Herupa's the newest one to hit the comics.

Nah, Herupa was from Millennium. Like the main Guardian in that story.

View user profile
Dan, can you name which issues or storylines the Guardians with names are from?

Scar - Sinestro Corps War/ Blackest Night
Raugniad
Nguanzo
Appa - First story arc of GL vol3? (prelude to Mosaic?)
Ganthet - Ganthet's Tale?
Baris
Pazu
Sayd - Sinestro Corps War/Prelude to Blackest Night
Herupa - Millenium

Herupa and Pazu both made their first appearance in the same issue.

Broom Bon Baris Green Lantern Corps #222

Pazu Green Lantern Vol 2 #200

Ok, I've just finished the ep.

Hands down, YOUNG JUSTICE is the best cartoon on TV.

Green Lantern is good but YJ is DCU wide.

Avengers animation is lacking...

Ultimate Spidey is geared more towards 5-13 years olds...

Seriously I LOVE Young Justice.

I'm having a hard time with the John Stewart neck-snap. I realize his ring was out of power so he couldn't use it but how about a punch to the chin instead? I just read the Mosaic series and in issue #5 John turns into a boxer and KO's Hal Jordan of all people. I understand that Tomasi has a good storyline planned here so I'll have to trust John's character in his hands.

Yeah but even when he woke back up he's crack and tell the secrets.

@GLKitteh the offer still stands.

Just heard Marvel was ending Earth's Mightiest Heroes so they can bring the show in house and have more control like they do with the Spider-Man cartoon!

YEAH!
