you get a ring that can do exactly ONE thing...what do you pick?

So you're going about your day. Nothing special. All fo a sudden, Ganthet shows up and hands you a power ring. He tells you it can do anything you can imagine, as long as you have the will to back it up and keep it charged.

BUT.

There's a catch.

This is the "light" version of a power ring. The very first thing you do with it will forever be the one and only thing the ring is capable of doing. You have all the time you want to choose what to do.

And nooooooooo add-ons. Life support would be the one and only, universal translator would be the one and only, universal scanner would be the one and only, exc.

What would you want?



I'm kind of torn between something that'd be practical and something that'd be awesome. I think I may meet in the middle and go with teleportation. Constructs would be cool, but there's no one construct that'd be a good all-purpose one, ya know? So I think teleport. Or maybe force field.

What do you guys think?

If you went with a mind controlled force field, and you could move it and anything in it, you would also be able to fly. I'm thinking like an energy bubble construct. You could also use it to capture bad guys. And if you make the bubble a decent size, you could carry a bit of atmosphere with you to go under water or into space temporarily. It seems like that would get the most out of the ring.

Universal translator. Of all the rings 'background' functions, it is the most practical if still stranded planet side.

If this is allowed, it is probably the best option, like having a green light version of the powers of Marvel's Invisible Woman, only without the namesake ability.

Although, universal translator really, really appeals to me.

Is this a Green Lantern Power Ring or is it a generic Power Ring that can give you any one super power?

I ask because two of my favorite super powers is Flight and Super Speed (like The Flash) and I'm not sure a Green Lantern Power Ring can give you super speed. I'm sure it can make you fly really fast but nothing like the speed The Flash can generate. So then I'd just keep it simple and go with flight. But if it was a generic Power Ring that could give you any one power...Super Speed!
