If you've listened to the show for any length of time, you're probably familiar with the fact that I haven't seen most movies. One day, about a month ago, completely out of the blue, I decided to get Netflix. My free trial month is wrapping up, and I'm gonna keep going with it. There're just so many things that're a huge part of geek culture that I've either never seen at all, or have only seen bits of, and I want to experience them for myself. This month, I've knocked out season one of Sherlock, season one of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the complete series of Avatar: The Last Air Bender, the live action Last Air Bender movie, all of Firefly and the Serenity movie that followed it...I think that's it so far. Currently, the rest of my never-seen-it-before instant queue is:

Buried (ya know, that movie where Hal Jordan's in a box, but his ring ran out)
Nosferatu (1929 movie)
Farscape (4 seasons)
Arrested Developement (3 seasons)
Bob's Burgers (saw one random episode, and it may be the best dialog I've ever herd)
Transformers Prime (season 1)
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (7 seasons)
My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (2 seasons)

In addition, I'm gonna revisit some gems that I loved at the time, but haven't seen since they were first on. Such as:

X-Men: Evolution (4 seasons)
Beast Wars (3 seasons)
Danny Phantom (3 seasons)
King of the Hill (13 seasons)

Anyway, I'm looking for suggestions as to what I should add to my list. The one condition is that it has to be available on instant. I've made a conscious decision that I don't want to deal with mailing discs back and forth, and I obviously don't care about watching stuff enough to do that minimal amount of work for it.

You might need to explain the My Little Pony on the next podcast Dan.

One of my favourite shows of all time (5 seasons) is Six Feet Under. Amazing.

This movie is really good but is hard to watch...

Farscape (4 seasons)
Make sure to watch the follow up movie! This is one of the series I own on DVD! If you need an episode to get you into the series I recommend: "season 3 episode 16 revenging ange" You won't get a lot of whats going on but this is a really fun episode and one my my favorite from the series!

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (7 seasons)
WATCH ALL OF STAR TREK!!!!! ALL OF IT!!!! Every series is up on youtube. Or you can just wait for my podcast when I eventually do it and follow along for the 5 years or so, lol.

gland wrote:

Rachel and I love this series!! And like we talked about it has some YJ crossover stuff, lol

gland wrote:
X-Men: Evolution (4 seasons)
I don't think it hold up to the test of time.

gland wrote:

I love this series! While the Sequel "Beast Machines" was not very good you should still watch it to get the closure for the story.

These are some of the ones Rachel and I suggest!

Dr. Horrible's sing along blog - Amazing, but for some people takes a few watches to really get.

Reboot - another classic animated series.

Hollywood Treasure - Awesome nerd finds up for auction!

Invader Zim - One of the oddest and funniest American Cartoons!

Better Off Ted - A great and very overlooked comedy.

Being Human (U.S. Version) - A ghost, a werewolf and a vampire move in togther... No joke!

Any Dr. Who - Because Bow-ties are cool.

Torchwood - Because Captain Jack Harkness is awesome!

Big fan of Dr. Horrible's sing along blog - Amazing, but for some people takes a few watches to really get.

I'd throw in:
Luther (BBC show starring Idris Elba)
Battle Star Galactica
Archer
The Fifth Element
Snatch
A Knight's Tale

Lauren and I have been watching The IT Crowd. It's HILARIOUS. I've been working my way through the Stargate SG1 series, filling in gaps I missed and I love that. I'll move on to Stargate Atlantis after that. I've got Star Trek TNG, Voyager, DS9 and Enterprise all ready for when I am. I've seen a lot of that stuff, but not DS9 or the final season of Enterprise, which from what I hear is when it got really good.

Invader Zim is a classic. Watch the movie Limitless. I'm hoping to get to Warehouse 13 and Spaced someday.

It crowd is amazing. Loved every minute.

Sg1 Atlantis and universe loved it all.

Jim check out black books. It's real funny similar humor as it crowd just takes place in a book store.

Which means he needs to skip to Matt Smith.

I don't have much to recommend since I haven't looked around Netflix in a while. I've been watching Doctor Who, Torchwood and Supernatural (Three VERY good shows). I can, however, second recommendations for Transformers Prime and Buried.

I wonder if it holds up.

A lot of great (?) suggestions, many of which now populate my list. I'm actually amazed by how many I've already seen. Yes, Dr Horrible is AMAZING.

I've never seen this show, but from what I've been able to gather from general cultural awareness, there are two kinds of adults when it comes to this show: the ones that try it and like it, and the ones who refuse to try it and think those that do are odd/creepy. Seriously, I've never herd of anyone in the middle. All I know is, a lot of people I know seem to be into it, and the brief clips of animation I've seen look great, and like it or not it's a big piece of the geek landscape right now. So what the hell, I'll give it a go.

Kinda. The storyline is still pretty good and the graphics in the later seasons hold up decently.

This is probably true. I would say there is a third group that see it and are indifferent, but I have yet to meet someone who has seen it and hates it.

Rachel also suggests:

"Malice in Wonderland" if you like odd alice in wonderland retellings.
and
"Doghouse" - if you like odd (and british) zombie movies.

This is actually the only part of Farscape I haven't seen and it can't be found anywhere anymore.

I've seen everything Doctor Who from the first Ecclston through to where Matt Smith is now. I'm not going to watch Torchwood, because my one friend couldn't shut up about that, to the point that I've herd about the big reveals and twists so many times that I feel like I've seen it already, thus I have zero interest in ever watching it.

Seconded!
I completely forgot about Dead Like Me and I've got the box set of both seasons!
I also liked Sara Conner Chronicles it just sucks that the show ended with such a cliff hanger...

Anyone else remember Surface or Invasion? Wonder if those are on instant queue.

Is "Dead Like Me" the one about the girl who got killed by a space toilet and became a grim reaper? If so, I saw that in college.
