With the large amount of May books including crossovers, we decided to split them up. Listen up for the good half where we discuss Green Lantern 9, Blue Beetle 9 and New Guardians 9! Plus, the guys discuss a few other things, and Jim has another baby announcement! Edited by the Epic LanternCast Producer, James Doyle! Call our voicemail number at 708-LANTERN!

Music by Desinu – “Green Ice”!

Great to hear about the "boy" news Jim! My wife and I are expecting a boy in Sept! We're adding two boys to the lanterncast extended family in a matter of months!

I can't believe you guys didn't like Blue Beetle! I was cracking up the whole issue!

The big problem with that Lobo theory is that he's the last Czarian because he killed the rest.

The Sinestro flashback...it seemed EXTREMELY obvious that it was clips of different periods in time to me.

"I don't get why he was in a library, though." Maybe they were chasing him and they eventually caught him?

"I guess this assassin happens to live across the street from Kyle." Since he was hired by the Guardians, I think it's safe to assume that he was squatting there waiting for Kyle.

That moment with Jaime and Bleez--PRICELESS. Laughing

I would recommend giving Teen Titans another try--The Culling was kind-of a hot mess, but it's issue since was pretty fun.

On the cancelled titles--Only one I kept up with was Voodoo, which I LOVED. Sad

On the new series: the only one I'm really interested in is Team 7, and that's because it's written by Justin Jordan, who wrote a fucking AMAZING mini for Image called The Strange Talent of Luther Strode, which you guys need to get.

I tried Captain Atom--honestly, I thought it was awful, but not for the reason I think it was Jim mentioned--I have no problem with weird shit and mysteries, it just wasn't all that interesting.

John Lynch and Alex Fairchild are Wildstorm characters, both were part of the original Team 7, both government agents, and both ended up being related to Gen13--Lynch who ended up taking them under his wing after busting them out of captivity, and Fairchild being the father of inarguably it's most famous character, Caitlin Fairchild, who's currently in Ravengers.

"I jumped off [Action Comics] when it went into the present." It actually didn't. #5/#6 involved the present-day Superman and a grown-up Legion, but everything since thing is still the early Superman.

"People don't want comics about normal people without super-powers." First, it should be noted that the writer said that there's going to be more people involved than the solicit suggests, and the people on the cover doesn't necessarily coincide with the characters in the solicit. Second, we know that Deathstroke, Black Canary, and now Grifter have extra abilities. Third, the whole concept of Team 7 was that the US government was experimenting on them so that they could gain super-powers.

I'm kind of the same tired feeling about the Talon book too--honestly, I think I got tired of the Court of Owls a few issues ago, so getting a new book is a bit of a tough pill to swallow.

I would listen to the first episode of Fandom Stranger just for the title alone.

Good episode. Smile

That's exactly what I was thinking Jim. If Indigo 1 was the girl Abin saved and she killed Abin's real daughter. It's kind of soap opera-ry but I also think it fits.

...I'm going to miss the bikini sapphire uniform...

The Blue Beetle Boner was hilarious!

Gotta say New Guardians has been a damn good book...

IT'S A BOY!!!!!!!! WHHHHOOOOOOOOOWWWWWHHHHHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

If it's the 15th his middle name has to be Corwin or Corey....

They did have that weird Kubert fill in issue that gave the regular artist time to breath before getting back to the past...I like the book a lot.

Yeah--I think that's the best take on Superman since...well...All-Star Superman, really.

I guess I mistook that as a jump to the present. Maybe I'll give the book another chance at some point.

Yeah--right now it's still taking place around the "five years ago" period. There's a lot of interesting stuff--from bringing in the original telepathic villain Superman idea that Siegel and Schuster had come up with before they struck gold with Action Comics, and exploring how Superman wants to do more in the world than just fighting corruption in Metropolis and stopping alien invasions.
